NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – Aug. 1, 2016 – On Thursday, August 18, Energize Connecticut and its partners, including Eversource and AVANGRID, Inc. subsidiaries United Illuminating , Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, invite children and their families to meet Leticia Colon de Mejias, author of “Dinero the Frog Learns to Save Energy” and other educational books.
The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Energize Connecticut Center, located at 122 Universal Drive North in North Haven (next to Panera Bread in the Target Plaza).
During this free, fun-filled event, Colon de Mejias will read “Dinero the Frog Learns to Save Energy” to guests. The first 100 children in attendance will receive a free, signed copy of the book.
“Dinero the Frog Learns to Save Energy” is a fun and educational book regarding energy conservation and how changing simple habits and behaviors can protect the environment. In the book, Poppi the Frog teaches his grandson Dinero about energy, how we use electricity, what renewable and non-renewable energy sources are, and how we can make smart energy-saving choices.
Children will enjoy other activities during the morning event, including:
- A sing along with the book characters
- Taking pictures with the book characters and author
- Creating their own Dinero headband
This event is part of the Energize Connecticut Center’s “Energize Me” event series, which focuses on engaging and educating Connecticut residents on energy efficient and sustainable practices.
