On Saturday, April 29, the Energize Connecticut Center and its partners, Eversource and AVANGRID subsidiaries, United Illuminating, Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, will host their 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 122 Universal Drive North, North Haven (next to Panera Bread in the Target Plaza). The event is free of charge and open to the public.
During the celebration, educational and entertaining family-friendly activities are scheduled throughout the day to teach guests the important role energy serves in our daily lives.
Entertainment, activities and special guests scheduled throughout the day include:
- 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 am. to 12:15 p.m.: Sciencetellers will teach guests about surface tension and air pressure with their “Science and Power of Energy” demonstration
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Energy and earth themed face painting
- 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Billy the Clown will provide balloon animal and clown shows
- 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Animal Embassy will be on-hand with rescue animals for children and their families to learn more about
- 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.: Danny Diamond magic and comedy shows
- 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Connecticut STEM Academy will be on-hand providing STEM-related (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities
- All day: FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) will conduct interactive robot demonstrations
- All day: Appearances by Effy the Energy-Efficient Dinosaur, who will be available for children to meet and take pictures with
- All day: Families can make energy and recycling themed arts and crafts provided by eesmarts™
- All day: Girl Scouts of Connecticut will provide guests with information about their programs and have crafts for sale
